Level 04
OUIL402 Personal & Professional Practice 1 Credits 20
End of Module Self Evaluation
NAME
Sam Metcalf.
1. What learning have you inherited through this module and how has it impacted on your own
understanding of professional practice? Consider yourself as a student at University as much as an
illustrator
It has made me realise that this is a very professional industry. There is a lot more to it then I thought
there was, I feel I need to consider why and what I’m producing does it represent what is indented to.
Also I need to have confidence it the work im making as this can be translated in the work. This also
applies to research that is done on the subject as with more understanding of what I’m wanting to draw
then the better the final work will be understood, hopefully.
2. What approaches/ types of research have you found most valuable over this module?
Why did they have such an impact?
I really like using Pintrest as it has a great range of everything on it, it also has a great feature where it
shows you very similar post to what iv been looking for and can lead me off to new exciting illustrators
and images. In the self-poster I looked on Pintrest for band gig poster as I feel these are poster of self
promoting and if the work is eye catching and bold it will stay in the memory bank better.
3. In what way has PPP informed the way your work in other modules and your illustration practice as
a whole?
Looking at what I’m producing trying to see where I can improve my own practise by looking better at
the work iv produced. Be critical of my own work in a way to help better it.
4. What weaknesses can you identify in your PPP submission and how will you address this in the
future?
My blog is very basic and has very little of any other artist work on, I do need to try and research in
everyway a lot more. As I don’t enjoy research at all I need to find some way I can do it and if its
possible find a way I way to enjoy doing it too.
5. What communities of practice and professional contexts do you intend to investigate further as you
approach level 5? Why do they appeal to you?
Print methods and how this can improve a final product. This is the reason I started back out in to
education as I I’m really interested in screen-printing and the process of printing good artwork. I have
printed t shirts in the past but now I want to learn how to print on to papers to produce posters,
artworks and ect ect.
6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas:
(please indicate using an ‘x’)
5= excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor
1 2 3 4 5
Attendance 5
Punctuality 5
Motivation 3
Commitment 3
Quantity of work produced 3
Quality of work produced 3
Contribution to the group 3
The evaluation of your work is an important part of the assessment criteria and represents a
percentage of the overall grade. It is essential that you give yourself enough time to complete your
written evaluation fully and with appropriate depth and level of self-reflection. If you have any questions
relating to the self-evaluation process speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
A copy of your end of module self evaluation should be posted to your studio
practice blog. This should be the last post before the submission of work and
will provide the starting point for the assessment process. Post a copy of your
evaluation to your PPP blog as evidence of your own on going evaluation.
