Lifes a pitch

THE COLLECTIVE KNOW AS LEMON

(tilly,emily,sophie,jess,me)

this is the plan we have to set up a studio for our collective.

To start a collective that brings people together and the artist to the client. We have come up with the idea to open a studio space together with a area that is for the public as well as the artist. By having a coffee shop within our studio space this would allow a friendly environment to develop around a art space (finger crossed it works). As well as serving coffee and treats all the tables in the area will be fully equipt with paper and drawing materials to help start the creative process going.

Within this small space we would like to have a area that has a multi purpose function to be used as a

  • Shop to sell art in
  • Gallery space for shows
  • Performance area for Performances to be held
  • Dancing area for the dancers
We talked about our studio space and the times it was open and we decided it would be nice if we could give late night opening a go, this is due to the fact that most places turn from day time covariance to late night boozing and this forces out the creatives back to there homes and we find most creative people like to work late. so we would like to try out a late opening coffee shop that caters for the creative mind fruit juice and coffee (so leave the alcohol out of it).

Marketing

So today we looked at marketing and how it is important to really look at what you are selling and how to. The 4 P's of marketing are Product, Price, Place and Promotion. These are the 4 main points that need to be looked at when selling a product. Product what is the product you are trying to sell where does it need to be sold to the right target audience. Price how much are you going to charge for it, is it affordable and what are other with a similar product selling it at. Place where is going to be best to sell your product to the right audience, is they going to be a prime location?shop where  you need to try and get your product in. Promotion how are you going to get your product noticed and selling.

U.S.P Unique Selling Point does the product have a unique thing about it that could be shouted about to get it to sell better then others.

When coming up with our groups and the ideas we have had what is its SWOT this stands for its Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats. When we put our idea of the Lemon Collective to this we could identify the different areas by writing down in each category what we think relates to our idea. First we did this task on our own then came together to see if we had any ideas the same undewr each word. Here is what we came up with

MONDAY 25th January 2016

So today we had a meeting to try prepare for our presentation on a weeks time. As a group we came up with the slides and information together.

We organized our slides and what content we would need to display for a pitch for The Lemon Collective.
A  animation was made too just something quick and easy to make the pitch a bit less formal and just talking a little dash of movement.

We went out and got some lemons to draw faces on to help promote the collective.

Put together some quick images of shop fronts with our name and logo on to show what the space could look like, a floor plan was also drawn up to demonstrate how the floor space could be used.

A slide with our manifesto, what we are about and one showing what our website could content and look like.

A group shot was taken so we could show who we are and what our faces look like as everything feels more real when it has a face to show who runs it.

Friday 30th january 2216

So today we all meet up to finish off the slideshow and look over our script, today was a good meeting as all the group turned up and got on with the task in hand. We went over and corrected a few slides to get the wording and imagery correct. Added the stop start Animation of the lemon spinning around to the slide. We came up with mock ups for merchandise  what we could sell and give out to get a company known. looked at what the final prices where and what we could charge for refreshments. I think most of the group is now more familiar to how the application in google now work as we had to share files and images around to each other so to get them right., we did tis using google drive and emails, social media was also used but as i don't often use that i found using google to be better as any updates send you a email containing the material. I have really enjoyed working in our group as I have got to work a bunch of great and very motivated group of people who have shown me stuff and shown me tat working in a group can be a productive task if you have the right people to work with.

Here is each slide of our presentation.

After delivering our pitch i was so happy it was over as i absolutly hate having to stand up in front of everybody and talk about things. I was very very pleased with the whole project tho and been part of a group that I was really happy to of been a part of. After we had presented our pitch some of the group were a little bummed out because we had not meet the 10min time limit, i think we where around the 7 min mark, but i was just really happy with what we had done and really  like the idea of our studio/coffee shop idea. At the start of this project i could not of imagined coming up with a business idea that I could see to actually be a good idea and a group of people i could work alongside.

After watching all the other groups present their pitches  and listen to what they had say it became apparent the we could make one massive change to our idea and that would be to have a lot more studio space, as nearly every other group said the would like to have studio space to base their business idea at. As we only had 20 booths in our pitch i think that in leeds they is a massive demand for studio space at ta good price for the creative community to work.
